Meet Roshni Nadar Malhotra - First woman to head a listed IT company in India

She also boasts the list of the world’s most powerful women.

When it comes to the rich person list of India, not many women can be seen in the list, which is quite unfortunate. However, this businesswoman is changing the face of it by not only carrying on successfully a top Indian tech company but also by giving back to society. Roshni Nadar Malhotra is currently a chairwoman of HCL Technologies and is also the first woman to head a listed IT company in India. 

Her father Shiv Nadar, who is one of the richest persons in Asia and is also the founder of HCL Tech, handed over the business to her in 2020. Roshni is an MBA from Kellogg School of Management and worked as a producer for a news company and other businesses as well. 

She ranked 55th on the Forbes world’s 100 most powerful women in 2020 and is the richest woman according to IIFL wealth Hurun India Rich list 2019. She also featured in 2020 Asia’s Power Businesswomen list of 25 powerful female leaders in the Asia Pacific region. Her net worth is estimated to be about Rs 54,850 crore.

Following the steps of her father, Malhotra is actively working for society. She is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation and chairs the VidyaGyan foundation which works for the betterment of economically underprivileged and meritorious rural students of Uttar Pradesh. Being a nature lover herself, the Habitats Trust was founded in 2018 by her that works toward protecting India’s natural habitats. 

Surely, she has set up an example by leading one of India’s largest IT companies and also working for the benefit of the society and environment.
