MCap of BSE listed companies at record high

On Monday, the market capitalisation of equities of listed companies on BSE has reached USD 3 trillion intra day for the first time ever.

The recent bullish trend in the domestic equity market has supported strong equity gains. As companies report good numbers with improved performance for Q4FY21, buying sentiment have boosted across banking, IT, chemical and healthcare stocks.

Tweeting on the achievement, Shri Ashish Chauhan,  MD and CEO of BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) said, " Market capitalisation of equities of listed companies on BSE reached USD 3 trillion for the first time ever. A great milestone on long journey. Congratulations to all 6.9 crore plus registered investors, 1400 plus brokers, 69000 plus MF distributors and 4700 plus companies."

Along with the rising market capitalization the participation by the retail investors is also growing in the equity markets. Broking companies are seeing their fortunes revive with increasing market participation from retail investors. Companies such as Angel Broking , IIFL Securities, ICICI securities and Motilal Oswal and seen outperforming on bourses as the volumes in equity markets improve. CDSL and BSE are also gaining traction with the advent of increased transactions and volumes in the equity markets. 

On Monday, Sensex was up by 133.64 points or by 0.26 per cent at 50674.12. Sensex has gained 5.96 per cent on YTD basis and is up by 65.74 per cent in past one year.
