Markets open flat: Nifty Metal shines, Nifty IT struggles

Sensex remained flat, down by 0.01 per cent, hovering around 84,920, and Nifty also saw a slight dip of 0.02 per cent, trading near 25,930.

Market Update at 9:30 AM: On Tuesday, Indian markets opened on a flat note, with both Nifty and Sensex showing minimal movement. Nifty Metal led the gains, while Nifty IT was the biggest laggard.

The Sensex remained flat, down by 0.01 per cent, hovering around 84,920, and Nifty also saw a slight dip of 0.02 per cent, trading near 25,930. However, the broader market performed better, with the Nifty Midcap rising by 0.23 per cent to approximately 60,840, and the Nifty Smallcap gaining 0.18 per cent, trading near 19,580.

India VIX rose by 0.65 per cent and is trading at 13.88, indicating a slight rise in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Metal, Nifty Energy, and Nifty Pharma are among the Top Gainers while Nifty IT, Nifty Realty, and Nifty PSU Bank are the sectors which are underperforming.

TATASTEEL, JSWSTEEL, and HINDALCO are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while INFY, BAJFINANCE, and HINDUNILVR are among the Top Losers.

About 1,387 stocks are advancing as against to 891 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Pre-Market Update at 7:55 AM: On Monday, gains in the Dow Jones Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods, and Basic Materials sectors pushed shares higher. By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.15 per cent, reaching a new all-time high.

The S&P 500 gained 0.28 per cent, while the NASDAQ Composite increased by 0.14 per cent. The yield on the US 10-year Treasury gained 76 basis points to 3.74 per cent, while the US 2-year bond yield gained 27 basis points, settling at 3.59 per cent

The GIFT Nifty is showing an upward trend, signaling a positive opening for the day. Nifty futures are currently trading at 26,045.00.

Oil prices dropped on Monday, as concerns over demand grew due to weak business activity in the euro zone and a sluggish Chinese economy.

Brent crude for November delivery fell by 59 cents, or 0.8 per cent, to $73.90 a barrel, while U.S. crude for November declined by 63 cents, or 0.9 per cent, to $70.37 a barrel.

On September 23, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 404 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 1,022 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on September 24, 2024, are AARTIIND, ABFRL, BIOCON, CHAMBLFERT, GNFC, GRANULES, IDEA, LICHSGFIN, NATIONALUM, OFSS, PNB, SAIL.
