Market zooms up by 424 points

The benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty50 again surprised in the last leg of trading on Tuesday with a 400 point jump. Sensex closed at 38,233.41, up by 424.50 points or 1.12 per cent and Nifty50 was at 11,493.65, up by 139.40 points or 1.23 per cent. While Bank Nifty was again close to 30,000 level.

On BSE Sensex the top gainers were NTPC at Rs. 140.00 per share, up by 3.21 per cent, Reliance at Rs. 1,365.35, up by 3.03, Vedanta at Rs. 173.15, up by 2.91 per cent, SBI at Rs. 301.75, up by 2.71, Bajaj Finance at 2,926.10, up by 2.57 per cent and Kotak Bank at Rs. 1,340.55, up by 2.43 per cent.

Where the top losers were down only marginally including Hero Moto, TCS, L&T, while ITC and Infy were down more than half a per cent.

On a sectoral basis, Nifty Bank was again close to 30,000 level at 29,904.90, up by 623.70 points or 2.13 per cent, followed by Metal and Pharma were up 1.10 and 0.81 per cent. The only index in red was the Nifty IT, down 0.46 per cent.

Among the movers of the benchmark indices was Reliance pushing the Sensex up by 129.66 points, followed by ICICI adding 63.83 points, HDFC Bank 59.21 points, Kotak Bank 38.72 points and SBI 31.58 points.

The top gainers on BSE exchange were GMR Infra up 13 per cent, HCC and Take up close to 10 per cent, while the top losers were RCom, Jubilant and Meghmani down by more than 4 per cent.
