Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a positive note with Nifty Metal and Nifty Fin Service among top gainers!

Sensex closed higher by 0.88 per cent and closed at 79,476.64, while Nifty closed higher by 0.85 per cent and closed at 24,198.15 level.

Market Update at 3:30 PM: On Tuesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a positive note as Sensex closed higher by 0.88 per cent and closed at 79,476.64, while Nifty closed higher by 0.91 per cent and closed at 24,213.30 level. Similarly, the Broader market, Nifty Midcap closed higher by 0.59 per cent at 56,115.45, while Nifty Smallcap closed higher by 0.43 per cent and closed at 18,503.45.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, declined by 4.07 per cent and is trading at the level of 16.01 reflecting a fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Metal, Nifty Fin Service and Nifty Bank sector emerged as Top Gainers, while Nifty Media and Nifty FMCG underperformed.

JSWSTEEL, TATASTEEL, and BAJAJ-AUTO were among the top gainers while on the other hand COALINDIA, TRENT, and ADANIPORTS were among the Top Losers.

About 1,540 stocks were advancing as against to 811 that were declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 12:25 PM: During the ongoing trading session, benchmark indices are showing a negative trend, with the Sensex down by 0.60 per cent and the Nifty down by 0.60 per cent. However, in the broader market, the Nifty Midcap down by 0.96 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap declined by 0.77 per cent.

India VIX rose by 1.80 per cent and is trading around the mark of 16.99, indicating a slight rise in market volatility.

European stocks are heading for a lackluster start to the trading day as global markets gear up for the US presidential election. European futures; DAX (+0.08 per cent); CAC (+0.22 per cent); FTSE (+0.04 per cent).

In the sectoral landscape Nifty Metal sector emerged as top gainers, while Nifty MID SELECT, Nifty Pharma, and Nifty Media sectors are underperforming.

Top gainers in individual stocks are JSWSTEEL, TATASTEEL, and INDUSINDBK while, HDFCLIFE, ADANIPORTS and TRENT are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is negative, with 1,099 stocks advancing compared to 1,258 stocks declining.

Market Update at 9:45 AM: On Tuesday, markets opened on a negative note, with both Nifty and Sensex showing negative movement. Nifty Metal led the gains and Nifty Realty was the biggest laggard.

As of now, the Sensex is down by 0.24 per cent, hovering around 78,600, and Nifty is down by 0.19 per cent, trading near 23,940. Similarly, in the broader market, the Nifty Midcap declined about 0.50 per cent to about 55,510, and the Nifty Smallcap is down by 0.46 per cent, trading near 18,340.

India VIX up by 1.14 per cent and is trading at 16.88, indicating a slight rise in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Metal, Nifty Auto, and Nifty Pharma sector is among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Fin Service are underperforming.

INDUSINDBK, TATASTEEL, and HINDALCO are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while COALINDIA, ADANIPORTS, and TRENT are among the top losers.

About 1,002 stocks are advancing as against to 1,254 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Pre-Market Update at 7:55 AM: US stocks ended slightly down after a volatile Monday, as investors braced for a significant week with the U.S. presidential election and the Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy statement.

The Dow Jones dipped 257.59 points (0.61 per cent) to 41,794.60, the S&P 500 slipped 16.11 points (0.28 per cent) to 5,712.69, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 59.93 points (0.33 per cent) to 18,179.98.

The GIFT Nifty is trading lower, indicating a negative start for the day. Nifty futures were trading at 24,100.00.

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield stands at 4.297 per cent, while the 2-year bond yield at 4.17 per cent.

Oil steadied in Asian trade Tuesday after recent gains, as markets awaited U.S. election and China meeting cues. Monday’s surge came as OPEC+ delayed production hikes, but oil remains near three-year lows on weak demand concerns. Brent fell 0.2 per cent to $74.93, and WTI slipped 0.2 per cent to $70.90.

On November 4 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 4,329 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 2,936 crore.

As of November 5, 2024, no stocks are under the F&O segment trading ban.
