Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a positive note with Nifty Bank among the top gainers!

Sensex closed higher by 0.18 per cent and closed at 81,611.41, while Nifty closed higher by 0.07 per cent and closed at 24,998.45 level.

Market Update at 3:45 PM: On Thursday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a positive note as Sensex closed higher by 0.18 per cent and closed at 81,611.41, while Nifty closed higher by 0.07 per cent and closed at 24,998.45 level. However, the Broader market, Nifty Midcap closed lower by 0.28 per cent at 58,935.85, while Nifty Smallcap closed higher by 0.19 per cent and closed at 18,900.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, fell by 4.39 per cent and is trading at the level of 13.50 reflecting a fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Bank, Nifty Fin Service, and Nifty Metal emerged as Top Gainers, while Nifty Pharma, Nifty IT and Nifty Media are the sectors which underperformed.

KOTAKBANK, HDFCBANK, and BEL were among the top gainers while on the other hand CIPLA, TECHM, and TRENT were among the Top Losers.

About 1,288 stocks were advancing as against to 1,073 that were declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 1:15 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices are trading positive, with Sensex trading higher by 0.31 per cent while Nifty trading higher by 0.22 per cent. However, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap down by 0.13 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap rose by 0.26 per cent.

India VIX declined by 5.35 per cent and is trading around the mark of 13.81 indicating a fall in market volatility.

The Stoxx 600 fell 0.54 per cent. Mining stocks dropped 4.47 per cent, and household goods fell 1.47 per cent. Luxury and mining stocks fell as China announced anti-dumping measures on European brandy and the EU voted on electric vehicle tariffs. Sentiment turned negative on a potential demand boost from stimulus measures in China.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Bank, Nifty Fin Service, and Nifty Energy are among the top gainers while Nifty Pharma, Nifty IT, and Nifty Media are the sectors which are underperforming.

KOTAKBANK, POWERGRID, and BEL are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, CIPLA, ADANIENT, and TRENT are among the top losers.

About 1,460 stocks are advancing as against to 917 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 9:35 AM: On Thursday, Indian markets opened on a positive note, with both Nifty and Sensex showing positive movement. Nifty Realty led the gains, while Nifty Pharma was the biggest laggard.

As of now, the Sensex is up by 0.23 per cent, hovering around 81,650, and Nifty is up by 0.20 per cent, trading near 25,025. Similarly, in the broader market, the Nifty Midcap is up by 0.53 per cent to approximately 59,410, and the Nifty Smallcap is up by 0.78 per cent, trading near 19,010.

India VIX declined by 1.42 per cent and is trading at 13.91, indicating a fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Realty, Nifty MID SELECT, and Nifty Energy are among the top gainers while only Nifty Pharma is underperforming.

HCLTECH, POWERGRID, and M&M are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while ADANIENT, TRENT, and CIPLA are among the top losers.

About 1,744 stocks are advancing as against to 529 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Pre-Market Update at 8:30 AM: Wall Street stocks rose on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 and Dow reaching record highs after the release of Federal Reserve minutes. The Dow gained 431.63 points (1.03 per cent) to 42,512.00, the S&P 500 added 40.91 points (0.71 per cent) to 5,792.04, and the Nasdaq rose 108.70 points (0.60 per cent) to 18,291.62.

The GIFT Nifty is trading higher, indicating a positive start for the day. Nifty futures were trading at 25,258.25.

The US 10-year Treasury yield dropped by 24 basis points to 4.06 per cent, while the 2-year bond yield declined by 36 basis points to 4 per cent.

Oil prices edged higher on Thursday, recovering from recent losses as attention stayed on the Middle East conflict and potential stimulus in China. Gains were capped by a stronger dollar and a larger-than-expected rise in U.S. inventories. Brent crude futures for December rose 0.4 per cent to $76.89 a barrel, while WTI crude futures increased by 0.4 per cent to $72.86.

On October 09, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 4,562 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 3,508 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on October 10, 2024, are BANDHANBNK, BSOFT, GNFC, GRANULES, HINDCOPPER, IDFCFIRSTB, MANAPPURAM, PNB, RBLBANK, SAIL, TATACHEM.
