Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a mixed note while Nifty Bank makes a new all-time high!

On Wednesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a mixed note as Sensex gained by 0.05 per cent and closed at 77,337.60 level, while Nifty declined by 0.15 per cent closed at 23,516 level.

Market Update at 3:40 PM: On Wednesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a mixed note as Sensex gained by 0.05 per cent and closed at 77,337.60 level, while Nifty declined by 0.15 per cent closed at 23,516 level. Whereas the Broader market also experienced substantial declines as Nifty Midcap closed significantly lower by 0.99 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap plunged by 0.47 per cent. Furthermore Nifty Bank significantly surged by 1.9 per cent and record a new-all time high at the 51,398.05 level. 

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has surged by 6 per cent and is trading around the level of 13 reflecting an increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Bank, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty IT were among the top gainers, while Nifty Realty, Nifty Energy and Nifty Auto were among the top losers.

HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers while on the other hand Titan, L&T and Maruti were among the top losers.

About 868 stocks were advancing as against to 1432 that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:15 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a positive note with the Sensex trading higher by 0.23 per cent, while Nifty marginally gained by 0.01 per cent. Whereas, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has declined by 0.62 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has declined by 0.04 per cent.

India VIX is currently trading higher by 4.13 per cent and is trading around the level of 13 indicating slight increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Bank, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Energy and Nifty Metal are among the major sectors which are underperforming.

HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank are among the top gainers while Titan, L&T and Hindalco are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1027 stocks are advancing as against 1227 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:40 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a negative note as Sensex has moderately gained by 0.19 per cent, while Nifty has marginally gained by 0.01 per cent. Whereas, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has plunged by 0.62 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has plummeted by 0.19 per cent.

India VIX is has surged by 4.59 per cent and is trading around the mark of 13 indicating slight increase in market volatility.

European stocks are expected to open mixed on Wednesday losing the positive momentum seen in the previous trading session. European futures DAX trades slightly higher by 0.01 per cent while CAC and FTSE trade lower by 0.02 per cent and 0.20 per cent respectively.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Bank, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty IT are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Energy and Nifty Auto are among the top losers.

Indusind Bank, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, Titan, Bajaj Auto and Hero Motocorp are among the top losers.

About 1036 stocks are advancing as against to 1262 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:15 AM: In the ongoing trading session, Benchmark indices are trading on a lower note with Sensex trading lower by 0.1 per cent, while Nifty plunged by 0.26 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap experience significant decline of 0.94 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has plummeted by 0.59 per cent.

India VIX is has marginally gained by 5.03 per cent and is trading above the mark of 13, indicating slight increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Bank, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Media and Nifty Energy are among the top losers.

Top gainers in individual stocks are Indusind Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank whereas Titan, LTIMindtree and Coal India are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is negative, with 800 stocks advancing compared to 1480 stocks declining.

 

Market Update at 9:45 AM: On Wednesday, Indian markets started the trading day on a positive note with the Sensex and Nifty surging and making record highs, while in the broader indices, Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 declined. Furthermore, Nifty Bank was among the top gainers while Nifty Realty was the biggest loser.

Sensex is trading moderately higher by 0.25 per cent and made a new all-time high of 77,581.46 level, while Nifty is also trading higher by 0.1 per cent and made a record high of 23,630.85 level.  Contrarily, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap opened higher lower by 0.79 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has also plunged by 0.88 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 2.53 per cent and is trading around the mark of 13, indicating slight increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Bank, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty Pharma were among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Media and Nifty Energy are the major sectors which are trading negatively.

Indusind Bank, ICICI Bank and Kotak Bank are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, Titan, LTIMindtree and BPCL are among the top losers.

About 754 stocks are advancing as against to 1452 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:25 AM: The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed at record highs on Tuesday, driven by Nvidia's ongoing rally, while the Dow posted a slight gain in muted pre-holiday trading amid weaker-than-expected U.S. retail sales data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 56.76 points, or 0.15 per cent, to 38,834.86. The S&P 500 rose 13.80 points, or 0.25 per cent, to 5,487.03, and the Nasdaq Composite added 5.21 points, or 0.03 per cent, to 17,862.23.

U.S. 10-year and 2-year Treasury yields remained stable in early trading on Wednesday.

The GIFT Nifty indicates a slightly negative start for the Indian Benchmark indices, with a slight decline of 0.05 per cent or 29 points. Nifty futures are currently trading near the 23,570 mark.

Oil prices edged up slightly in early trading on Wednesday, as worries about escalating conflicts in Europe and the Middle East countered concerns over demand after an unexpected increase in U.S. crude inventories.

Brent crude futures for August delivery increased by 6 cents to USD 85.39 per barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude for June rose 10 cents to USD 81.67 per barrel.

On June 18, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) purchased shares worth Rs 2,569.40 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 1,555.73 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on June 19, 2024, are BALRAMCHIN, GNFC, HINDCOPPER, INDIACEM, PEL, SAIL and SUNTV.
