Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a higher note with Nifty among the top gainers!

On August 3, foreign institutional investors (FII) offloaded shares worth Rs 317.46 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 1,729.19 crore.

Market Update at 3:50 PM: Sensex and Nifty closes higher by 0.74 per cent and 0.7 per cent respectively.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap closes higher by 0.82 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively.

India VIX has plunged by 5.54 per cent.

Nifty Pharma and Nifty IT and Nifty Bank were among the top gainers whereas Nifty FMCG, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Auto were among the top losers.

Cipla, IndusInd Bank and Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers while SBIN, Bajaj Auto and BPCL were among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 950 stocks were advancing as against to 992 stocks that were declining, thus indicating a neutral sentiment in the broader market.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap trade higher by 0.81 per cent and 0.78 per cent respectively.

India VIX has plunged by 5 per cent.

Nifty Bank, Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma are among the top gainers while Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Auto and Nifty Realty are among the top losers.

Cipla, IndusInd Bank and Tech Mahindra are among the top gainers while Bajaj Auto, SBIN and BPCL are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 1324 stocks are advancing as against to 650 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:35 AM: Sensex and Nifty trade higher by 0.71 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap trade higher by 0.61 per cent and 1.06 per cent respectively.

India VIX has plunged by 3.66 per cent.

Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty IT and Nifty Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty Media is among the top losers.

Cipla, Axis Bank and IndusInd Bank are among the top gainers while Bajaj Auto, Sun Pharma and BPCL are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 1445 stocks are advancing as against to 524 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 9:30 AM: Sensex and Nifty trade higher by 0.44 per cent and 0.5 per cent respectively.

Nifty Midcap trade higher by 0.67 per cent while Nifty Smallcap trades higher by 0.7 per cent.

India VIX has plunged by 2.32 per cent.

Nifty Pharma, Nifty Metal and Nifty IT are among the top gainers while currently there are no major sectors underperforming.

Cipla, Hindalco and SBI Life are among the top gainers while Power Grid, Sun Pharma and Bajaj Auto are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 1532 stocks are advancing as against to 332 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:00 AM: On Thursday night, Nasdaq 100 futures showed a slight increase as investors analyzed earnings reports from prominent technology companies ahead of a significant employment report scheduled for Friday morning. Futures connected to the technology-focused index rose by approximately 0.2 per cent, alongside a similar gain in S&P 500 futures. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures also climbed, registering a 0.07 per cent increase.

Oil prices surged by approximately 2 per cent on Thursday, boosted by actions from Saudi Arabia and Russia to maintain limited supplies through September and potentially beyond. Brent futures climbed by 2.3 per cent, settling at USD 85.14 per barrel. Meanwhile, the Dollar index experienced a slight dip of 0.02 per cent in futures trading, reaching 102.55, while the value of one dollar remained close to Rs 82.85.

The GIFT Nifty futures are signaling a slightly positive opening for the benchmark indices, with an increase of 33 points. This comes after Nifty experienced a decline of 144 points, closing at 19,381 points on August 3. The GIFT Nifty futures are currently at 19,489 points.

On August 3, foreign institutional investors (FII) offloaded shares worth Rs 317.46 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 1,729.19 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on August 4, 2023, are GNFC, Hindustan Copper and Piramal Enterprises Ltd.
