Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a higher note whereas broader indices close lower!

On July 12, foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 1,242.44 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 436.71 crore.

Market Update at 3:40 PM: Sensex closes higher by 0.25 per cent while Nifty closes higher by 0.15 per cent.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap close lower by 0.81 per cent and 1 per cent respectively.

India VIX has plunged marginally by 0.09 per cent.

Nifty Realty, Nifty IT and Nifty Financial Services were among the top gainers while Nifty Energy, Nifty Media and Nifty PSU Bank were among the top losers.

Hindalco, TCS and Infosys were among the top gainers while Power Grid, Coal India and UPL were among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 948 stocks were advancing as against to 953 stocks that were declining, thus indicating a neutral sentiment in the broader market.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap trade lower by 1.04 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively.

India VIX plunges by 0.46 per cent.

Nifty Realty, Nifty IT and Nifty Financial Services are among the top gainers while Nifty Energy, Nifty Media and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top losers.

Hindalco, TCS and Infosys are among the top gainers while Power Grid, Coal India and UPL are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 662 stocks are advancing as against to 1272 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:55 AM: Sensex and Nifty make new all-time highs after surging by more than 0.9 per cent each!

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap trade higher by 0.27 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively.

India VIX trades flat at 10.94.

Nifty Realty, Nifty IT and Nifty Financial Services are among the top gainers while Nifty Energy, Nifty Media and Nifty Pharma are among the top losers.

Hindalco, TCS and Infosys are among the top gainers while Power Grid, Coal India and Eicher Motors are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 1167 stocks are advancing as against to 742 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 9:35 AM: Sensex and Nifty opens higher by 0.57 per cent each.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap open higher by 0.35 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively.

India VIX has plunged by 1.55 per cent.

Nifty Metal, Nifty IT and Nifty Financial Services are among the top gainers while there are no other sectors currently underperforming.

Hindalco, HDFC Life and Bajaj Auto are among the top gainers while Power Grid, HCL Tech and Eicher Motors are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 1436 stocks are advancing as against to 394 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:10 AM: Wall Street stocks made gains on Wednesday after a US inflation report showed a smaller-than-expected increase, fueling optimism that the Federal Reserve will scale back its monetary tightening measures. The consumer price index rose by 3.0 per cent compared to the previous year, marking the lowest increase since March 2021 and a decline from May's figures. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.3 per cent while the S&P 500 increased by 0.7 per cent. The Nasdaq Composite Index, which focuses on technology companies, experienced the largest jump of 1.2 per cent.

Oil prices rose on Wednesday, with Brent futures reaching USD 80 a barrel for the first time since May. Brent futures settled up 0.9 per cent at USD 80.11 per barrel.

On Thursday, the GIFT Nifty indicated a neutral opening for the benchmark indices, showing a slight decline of 11.5 points. The futures were recorded at 19,553.5.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on July 13, 2023, are Hind Copper, India Cements, Indiabulls Housing Finance, PNB, Zee Entertainment and Manappuram.
