Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a higher note after making new all-time highs!

On July 14, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 2,636.43 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) sold shares worth Rs 772.45 crore.

Market Update at 3:50 PM: Sensex makes a new all-time high of 66,656 after surging by 0.8 per cent while Nifty surges by 0.75 per cent and makes a new all-time high of Rs 19,731.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap close higher by 0.31 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively.

India VIX has surged by 5.90 per cent.

Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Bank were among the top gainers while Nifty Auto and Nifty Realty were among the top losers.

Wipro, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and SBI were among the top gainers while Hero Motocorp, ONGC and Tata Motors were among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 1186 stocks were advancing as against to 797 stocks that were declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market update at 2:30 PM: Sensex surges by more than 0.48 per cent and make a new all-time high of 66,435 while Nifty also makes an all-time high of 19,673 after surging by more than 0.49 per cent.

Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap trade higher by 0.31 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively.

India VIX has surged by 5.24 per cent.

Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Energy are among the top gainers while Nifty Auto, Nifty Realty and Nifty FMCG are among the top losers.

Nifty Midcap trades higher by 0.51 per cent while Nifty Smallcap trades substantially higher by 1.19 per cent.

Market update at 9:35 AM: Sensex and Nifty open on a flat note.

Nifty Midcap opens higher by 0.41 per cent while Nifty Smallcap opens higher by 0.9 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 4.59 per cent.

Nifty Media, Nifty Metal and Nifty Pharma are among the top gainers while Nifty Auto, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty Bank are among the top losers.

Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and LTIMindtree are among the top gainers while ONGC, Hero Motocorp and M&M are among the top losers from the Nifty 50.

About 1440 stocks are advancing as against to 441 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 7:45 AM: On July 14, the S&P 500 closed slightly lower, primarily due to declines in bank and financial shares following quarterly reports. However, all three major US stock indexes recorded substantial weekly gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.33 per cent, the S&P 500 decreased by 0.10 per cent, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped by 0.18 per cent.

Oil prices declined for a second consecutive day on Monday. The drop was attributed to Libya resuming production, which increased global supply, and concerns over China's economic data indicating a weakening post-pandemic recovery. Brent crude futures fell by 0.7 per cent, amounting to a decrease of 57 cents, reaching USD 79.30 per barrel.

On Monday, the GIFT Nifty suggests a steady opening for the benchmark indices, with a 20-point increase while futures stood at 19,639.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on July 17, 2023, are Delta Corp, Hind Copper, Indiabulls Housing Finance, PNB, RBL Bank and Manappuram.
