Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close lower while Nifty Auto surged over 1.5 per cent!

On Tuesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a positive note as Sensex moderately declined by 0.25 per cent and closed at 74,482.78 level, while Nifty also marginally declined by 0.17 per cent and closed at 22,604.85 level.

Market Update at 4:00 PM: On Tuesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a positive note as Sensex moderately declined by 0.25 per cent and closed at 74,482.78 level, while Nifty also marginally declined by 0.17 per cent and closed at 22,604.85 level. Similarly, the Broader market experienced moderate gains as Nifty Midcap closed marginally higher by 0.07 per cent, whereas Nifty Smallcap slightly declined by 0.04 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has surged by 5.19 per cent, reflecting an increase in market volatility.

Nifty Auto, Nifty Realty, Nifty PSU Bank and Nity Financial Services were among the top gainers while Nifty IT, Nifty Media, Nifty Metal and Nifty Pharma were among the top losers.

M&M, Power Grid and Shriram Finance were among the top gainers while Tech Mahindra, BPCL and JSW Steel were among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 941 stocks were advancing as against to 1157 stocks that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:10 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a positive note with the Sensex trading moderately higher by 0.52 per cent, while Nifty also surged by 0.55 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has surged by 0.74 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has gained by 0.58 per cent.

India VIX is currently trading higher by 5.23 per cent, indicating an increase in market volatility.

Nifty Auto, Nifty Realty and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty IT, Nifty Media and Nifty Metal are among the top losers.

M&M, Power Grid and Shriram Finance are among the top gainers while Tech Mahindra, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and HCL Technologies are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1191 stocks are advancing as against 905 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:35 PM In the current trading session benchmark indices trade substantially higher as Sensex has surged by 0.43 per cent, while Nifty also gained by 0.46 per cent. Similarly, in the broader markets Nifty Midcap has moderately gained by 0.58 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.42 per cent.

India VIX has spiked up by 6.03 per cent, indicating an increase in market volatility.

European markets are heading for a positive open on Tuesday ahead of a busy day of earnings and major data releases in the region. European futures DAX, CAC and FTSE trade higher by 0.02 per cent and 0.12 per cent and 0.14 per cent respectively.

Market Update at 11:15 AM: In the ongoing trading session, Benchmark indices are trading on a positive note with Sensex moderately surging by 0.37 per cent, while Nifty also soared by 0.38 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap experience moderate gains of 0.37 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has marginally surged by 0.07 per cent.

India VIX is trading higher by 7.5 per cent, indicating an increase in market volatility.

Nifty Auto, Nifty Realty and Nifty Energy are among the top gainers while Nifty Metal, Nifty IT and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top losers.

Top gainers in individual stocks are M&M, Hero Motocorp and Power Grid, whereas Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel and Hindalco are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is positive, with 1136 stocks advancing compared to 937 stocks declining.

 

Market Update at 9:35 AM: On Tuesday, Indian markets initiated the trading day on a positive note with Sensex opening marginally higher by 0.07 per cent, while Nifty also opened higher by 0.23 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap opened moderately higher by 0.51 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap also opened higher by 0.5 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 3.11 per cent, indicating an increase in market volatility.

Nifty Auto, Nifty Media and Nifty Realty are among the top gainers while Nifty Bank and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top losers.

M&M, Maruti and Eicher Motors are among the top gainers while Bharti Airtel, Apollo Hospitals and Grasim are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1375 stocks are advancing as against to 574 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:30 AM: Monday saw US stocks making gains while the yen experienced a surge, suspected to be due to intervention, as investors prepared for what appears to be a busy week ahead.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 147.4 points, or 0.39 per cent, reaching 38,387.06, while the S&P 500 saw an increase of 16.19 points, or 0.32 per cent, closing at 5,116.15. Additionally, the Nasdaq Composite rose by 55.18 points, or 0.35 per cent, settling at 15,983.08.

On Monday, oil prices dropped by over USD 1 per barrel as talks for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Cairo eased concerns about a broader conflict in the Middle East. Additionally, US inflation data reduced expectations for immediate interest rate cuts.

The GIFT Nifty trends suggest a neutral opening for the Indian Benchmark Indices, with a slight increase of 15 points or 0.07 per cent. Nifty futures were observed trading near the 22,780 level.

June Brent crude futures, set to expire on Tuesday, declined by USD 1.25, or 1.4 per cent, to USD 88.25 per barrel. Meanwhile, the July contract, which is more actively traded, fell by USD 1.01, or 1.14 per cent, to USD 87.20 per barrel.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures also decreased by USD 1.19, or 1.4 per cent, reaching USD 82.66 per barrel.

On April 29, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 169.09 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 692.05 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on April 30, 2024, are BIOCON and IDEA.
