Pre-Market Update at 8:10 AM: The S&P 500 and Nasdaq achieved record closing highs for the fourth consecutive session on Thursday, driven by a continued rally in technology stocks.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 65.11 points, or 0.17 per cent, closing at 38,647.1. The S&P 500 increased by 12.71 points, or 0.23 per cent, to finish at 5,433.74, and the Nasdaq Composite climbed by 59.12 points, or 0.34 per cent, reaching 17,667.56.
The US 10-year Treasury yields rose by 32 basis points to 4.25 per cent, and the US 2-year bond yields were up by 31 basis points to 4.71 per cent.
The GIFT Nifty indicates a slightly negative start for the Indian Benchmark indices, with a slight decline of 0.01 per cent or 2.5 points. Nifty futures are currently trading near the 23,397 mark.
Oil prices declined on Friday but remained poised for their first weekly gain in four weeks, as markets weighed the implications of sustained higher U.S. interest rates against a strong outlook for crude and fuel demand this year.
Brent crude futures fell by 72 cents, or 0.87 per cent, to USD 82.04 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures dropped 79 cents, or 1 per cent, to USD 77.84 a barrel, reversing modest gains from the previous session.
