Market rebounds, up 238 points
Post lunch recovery sends benchmark indices back to their highs. The BSE Sensex closed at 38,939.22, up by 238.69 points or 0.62 per cent, while Nifty50 ended the day at 11,671.95, up by 67.45 points or 0.58 per cent on Tuesday.
Another significant rally was seen in the popular banking index Nifty Bank which breached the 30,000 level to close with gains of 268.55 points or 0.90 per cent at 30,113.85.
Among the top gainers on Nifty50 were Yesbank, Wipro, Tata Motors, Coal India and ICICI Bank. While the losers were IndiaBulls Housing, Asian Paint, Bharti Airtel, Infy and UPL.
On BSE, the movers and shakers were IndiaBulls Realestate up by 12.02 per cent, Linde India up by 8.06 per cent, Firstsource Solutions, ITI and Ashok Leyland were up close to 5 per cent each. Whereas among the biggest losers were Lakshmi Vilas, RCom and Sterlite Tech which were down around 4 per cent each, while Asian Paints and IndiaBulls Housing were down more than 3 per cent.
Among index heavyweights, ICICI Bank and ITC contributed the most to Sensex gains while Infy and Asian Paints were the biggest draggers.
