Market movers: These stocks log a 52-week high amid a huge market sell-off

Mangalore Refinery Petrochemicals, Sunflag Iron & Steel and Gujarat Ambuja Exports top Group A.

 As markets displayed mood swings facing a strong FII sell-off, the day ended in red for the fifth straight session with the benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex closing below by 1.2 per cent or 703 points at 56463.15, while Nifty50 closing below the 17000 mark at 16958.65 shedding 205 points or 1.3 per cent. 

IT continued to drag the market joined by Realty and FMCG while Energy and Oil & Gas were among few sectors in the green. S&P BSE Midcap traded lower by 1.2 per cent at 24450.86 while BSE Smallcap closed at 28869.58 at a loss of 1.21 per cent. 

  However, Mangalore Refinery Petrochemicals, Sunflag Iron & Steel and Gujarat Ambuja Exports witnessed positive action in today’s session.  

  Mangalore Refinery Petrochemicals showed a strong rally of 9.07 per cent in today’s session to hit a fresh 52- week high at Rs 63.45. At the day’s high the stock surged 20 per cent but most of the gains were eroded as the market sentiment turned bearish towards the market close. The stock, however, closed at Rs 57.70 for the day’s session locking the day’s gain at 9.07 per cent. 

  Sunflag Iron & Steel Co Ltd zoomed 7.27 per cent in today’s session to emerge as the second-biggest gainer in Group A. The stock had climbed 20 per cent in yesterday’s session and closed at Rs 101.15, locking in the upper circuit towards the market close. The stock continued its rally in today’s session, hitting a fresh 52- week high of Rs 120, surpassing yesterday’s high. As metal stocks continue to rally, this mild steel and alloy steel manufacturer has been in momentum for some time. 

Gujarat Ambuja Exports gained 5.2 per cent in today’s session and closed at Rs 352.10. The stock logged its intraday high and low in today’s session at Rs 393.85 and Rs 340, respectively. Logging its 52-week high at Rs 393.85, the stock was among the Top Gainers among A Group constituents.
