Market Movers: Godrej Agrovet, Cosmo Films and Bajaj Holdings are top gainers in A Group

Among sectoral indices, Banking and Finance stocks were in the limelight with S&P BSE Bankex soaring 3.5 per cent while Finance surging 4.3per cent.

Market rejoiced on the news of the mega-merger of HDFC with HDFC Bank with the benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 closed up by 2.2 per cent at 60562.47 and 18053.40 (breaching the sentimental marks of 60000 and 18000), respectively. The Midcap segment closed on a positive note gaining 1.3 per cent at 24754.58, while Smallcap index closed at a gain of 1.68 per cent at 29182.42.

Among sectoral indices, Banking and Finance stocks were in the limelight with S&P BSE Bankex soaring 3.5 per cent while Finance surging 4.3per cent. 

Godrej Agrovet, Cosmo Films and Bajaj Holdings witnessed positive action in today’s session. 

  Godrej Agrovet zoomed 19.26 per cent in today’s session to emerge as the biggest gainer in the A Group. Today, the stock touched its upper circuit of 550.90 and closed at Rs 547.50. Godrej Agrovet Limited is a diversified, Research & Development focused agri-business company, holding market leadership in Animal Feed, Crop Protection, Oil Palm, Dairy and Poultry and Processed Foods. The stock was under selling pressure in consecutive sessions but saw positive momentum in yesterday’s trade gaining 3.81 per cent taking the total gain of 24 per cent in last two trading sessions. 

Cosmo Films climbed 14.24 per cent in today’s session and closed at Rs 2035.75. The stock logged its 52-week high in today’s session at Rs 2049 rising sharply from the day’s low of Rs 1800. The company is engaged in the manufacture of BOPP films and flexible packaging films. 

Bajaj Holdings Investment ascended 12.84 per cent in today’s session and closed at Rs 6093.45. The stock logged its 52-week high in today’s session at Rs 6155.25 rising sharply from the day’s low of Rs 5352.10 on the back of a bull rally in the financial sector.
