Market Movers: Adani Green Energy, Shree Renuka Sugar and Godfrey Philips India top Group A
Among sectoral indices, Power and Utilities gained more than 5 per cent, while IT dragged.
IT majors dragged the benchmark indices with S&P BSE Sensex closing below by 0.8 per cent or 483 points at 58964.57 while Nifty50 at 17674.95 shedding 109 points or 0.6 per cent. The Midcap segment closed up by 0.4 per cent at 25 407.15 while Smallcap index closed at a gain of 0.38 per cent at 29880.07.

Adani Green Energy rallied 16.25 per cent in today’s session and closed at Rs 2701.55. The stock touched its upper circuit of 20 per cent at Rs 2788.70 during the closing session. At Rs 2788.70, the stock also logged it's fresh 52- week high at Rs 2788.70. The stock rallied on the back of Abu Dhabi's International Holding Company PJSC(IHC) to invest $2 billion in three Adani companies including Adani Green Energy.
Shree Renuka Sugar zoomed 14.67 per cent in today’s session to emerge as the second-biggest gainer in Group A. The stock logged a fresh 52-week high of Rs 58.55 in today’s session breaching the previous high of 55.60 made in Friday’s session. The recent surge in sugar stocks has been fuelled by a push for ethanol blending and a Sugar MSP of Rs 31 per kg. Since the beginning of this month, the shares of Renuka Sugar had rallied from the levels of 35.55, surging 65 per cent in April. The stock closed at Rs 57.05 for the day’s trade.
Godfrey Philips India climbed 14.06 per cent in today’s session and closed at Rs 1238.85. The stock logged its intraday high and low in today’s session at Rs 1268.40 and Rs 1095.55, respectively. The popular cigarette brand company has gained 14.4 per cent in the last week.
