LTHE consortium bags mega subsea hydrocarbon project
L&T's subsidiary, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) consortium, has been awarded the biggest single subsea contract by ONGC. The awarded is for ONGC's most sought development block, 98/2 in the Krishna Godavari basin.
The consortia include multinational oilfield services companies Baker Hughes and McDermott International. The scope of the project consists of the supply of all subsea production systems (SPS), including 34 deepwater trees, installation of SURF at depth of between 300 meters and 3,200 meters.
In this project, LTHE will provide fabrication engineering, procurement and coating of 500 km of linepipes, stalk fabrication of 300 km of linepipes, testing subsea structures and onshore pipeline installation. The fabrication work for this project will be conducted at LTHE's Kattupalli facility.
The project is a major deepwater development in the country and will help India tap its domestic energy potential. Delivery of the gas system is scheduled for 2020, while for the oil system is 2021.
On Thursday, at 10:02 hours, Larsen & Toubro Limited was quoting Rs. 1,276.55 per share, up by 2.58 per cent, when the benchmark index BSE Sensex had tanked 600 points at 35,375.93, down 1.67 per cent.
