L&T wins large contract to construct longest road bridge
A major technology, engineering & construction conglomerate, Larsen & Toubro Limited announced on Wednesday that its construction arm, L&T Construction has secured a large contract valuing between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore.
The contract is to construct the country’s longest road bridge across the River Brahmaputra connecting Dhubri (Assam) to Phulbari (Meghalaya). It will be a 19 km long bridge, which would be built alongside National Highway 127-B.
The bridge will be strategically important as it will improve the connectivity of the North-Eastern States with the rest of the country and create a link between Assam and Meghalaya thereby, reducing the distance between the two states by 250 km.
Indian multinational, L&T is engaged in EPC projects, manufacturing, defence, and service operating in over 30 countries. The infrastructure segment contributes about 51.4 per cent of the revenue and its other segments like financial services, electrical & automation services, hydrocarbon, IT & technology services contribute to the remaining revenue.
