L&T receives water treatment contract in Gujarat
The Water and Effluent Treatment Business of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction and Tecton Engineering & Construction LLC, UAE has secured a contract for 100 MLD Desalination plant from Industrial Development Corporation. L&T and Tecton operate as a joint venture company.
The project aims to provide desalinated water to Petroleum, Chemicals & Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) in the Dahej district of Gujarat. The project includes design, construction, commissioning of seawater intake structure with pump house, HDPE conveyance pipeline, raw water storage reservoir, seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) plant of 100 MLD output, marine outfall system and other related work. Along with this, the project includes online measurements and control of the desalination plant through Distributed Control Systems (DCS). The joint venture is set to maintain and operate the plant for 10 years after completion.
This project is the largest desalination plant awarded till date for industrial applications. Order of such a prestigious contract reaffirms the company’s credentials and its success as builders of water infrastructure in the country according to SN Subrahmanyan, CEO and MD of Larsen and Toubro.
On Wednesday, the stock of the company closed at Rs. 1,455.25 per share, a decrease of 0.43 per cent or Rs. 6.25 per share. The 52-week high is Rs. 1,606.70 and 52-week low is Rs. 1,183.40 on BSE.
