L&T construction arm win orders across various business segments

L&T Limited’s construction arm has secured orders from prestigious clients across various Indian states for its varied businesses. The value of these orders is worth Rs 2,500-Rs 5,000 crore.

Under the water and effluent treatment segment, it has won an Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) order from Public Health Engineering Directorate (PHED), West Bengal for water supply to Nandakumar, Chandipur, Nandigram - I & II blocks in East Medinipur district. The scope includes design and construction of intake structure of 112 MLD capacity, pre-settling pond of 164 ML capacity, pre-settling reservoir of 2.4 ML capacity, water treatment plant of 106 MLD capacity, raw water and clear water transmission pipelines of 50 km, clear water reservoir of 14.85 ML capacity, 3 pump houses and associated electromechanical & instrumentation work including operation and maintenance for two years.

The project is part of West Bengal Drinking Water Sector Improvement Project (WBDWSIP) and is expected to meet the water demands of 345 villages and 745 habitations in the district.

Another order has been received from Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for supplying, laying, testing and commissioning of clear water trunk, main of 54 km with an associated civil & mechanical work along the eastern route of Bangalore (Karnataka). The project is a part of the Phase 3 water supply augmentation of Cauvery Water Supply Scheme (CWSS), Stage V, planned for the city of Bangalore.

Under the Transportation Infrastructure segment, it has won an EPC order from the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) involving electrification of 1,137 km track. The project is a part of the 'Mission Electrification' initiative of the Central Government, which is aimed at electrifying the entire Indian Railway Network to reduce the carbon footprint as well as reduce the expenditure on diesel. Another order has been secured from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) involving design, procurement, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of ballastless track on the mainline and ballasted track in the depot in the section between BKC stations to Aarey Station (Package 10C - 40 km track) for Mumbai Metro Line 3 project.

Its buildings and factories segment has secured an EPC order for construction of a 300 bedded multi-specialty hospital at Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh). Additionally, various add-on orders have been received by some of the existing projects in the Power Transmission and Distribution (PTecD) and Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HC) businesses.

As on September 30, 2019, the company’s order book stood at Rs 3,03,200 crore, translating in book to bill ratio of 2.15x, considering FY19 revenue of Rs 141,007 crore.

On Wednesday, the stock of L&T opened at Rs 1,326.70 and touched Rs 1,336 level in the morning trading session.
