L&T bags orders worth Rs 2,547 crore

The power transmission & distribution business segment of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has won orders worth Rs 2,547 crore. The shares of the company gained over 1 per cent intra-day.
 
L&T’s power and transmission arm has won an international order in Tanzania for the construction of a 220 kV transmission line between Dar-es-Salaam and Morogoro, which in turn will help electrification of a standard gauge railway line. The other international order is to be executed in Thailand for the supply and construction of a 230 kV gas insulated sub-station that will cater to the Greater Bangkok area. In India, the business has secured EPC orders to build 132 kV substations and associated transmission lines in Jharkhand. The company announced another turnkey order which has been secured for the construction of 220 kV and 132 kV transmission lines in West Bengal. 

An order for a first-of-its-kind battery energy storage system has been secured from a Navratna enterprise of the Government of India. The 20 MW grid interactive solar photovoltaic project integrated with an 8 MWHr energy storage system is to be built in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Such large scale energy storage systems facilitate smooth grid integration of renewable generation, which is intermittent in nature. The Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Limited has awarded an order to establish optical fibre network infrastructure in four districts, under the BharatNet Phase-II works. 

On Friday, the shares of L&T opened higher at Rs.1388.60 as against Thursday’s close of Rs. 1379.60 At 15:02 hours, the shares of the company were trading at Rs 1398, up by 1.33 per cent on the back of the large orders. 
The intra-day high was Rs 1402.55 and intra-day low was Rs. 1371.75 on the BSE. Its 52-week high was Rs 1469.60 and 52-week low was Rs. 1176 on the BSE.
