L&T bags order to build units for Nuclear Power Corporation of India
On Thursday, Larsen & Toubro Limited announced that its construction arm had secured a significant order in the nuclear sector by Nuclear Corporation of India (NPCIL) for main plant civil work of Kudankulam 5 & 6 units.
Kudankulam Power Plant is the country’s first light water reactor (LWR) of 6 units with a generation capacity of 1,000 megawatts electric (MWe) each. At present, L&T is executing similar works of Kudankulam 3 & 4 units on the same premises.
The scope of the above-mentioned project includes the construction of the reactor building, reactor auxiliary building, turbine building, diesel generator building and other safety-related structures in a time period of 64 months.
The company did not specify the total contract value but categorised it in the ‘significant category’, which places it between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,500 crore.
At 2.08 pm on Thursday, the stock of L&T was trading at Rs 1,520.85, down by 1.77 per cent against its previous close of Rs 1,548.30. Its 52-week high and the 52-week low is Rs 1,593.00 and Rs 661.05, respectively on BSE.
