Airtel has announced a strategic agreement with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet services to its customers in India. This marks the first agreement of its kind in India, subject to SpaceX obtaining necessary approvals to sell Starlink services in the country. The partnership is expected to enhance broadband connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved areas, further complementing Airtel’s existing services.

Collaboration Details

The agreement will allow Airtel and SpaceX to explore opportunities to offer Starlink equipment through Airtel’s extensive retail network. Additionally, both companies will jointly target businesses, enterprises, rural communities, schools, and healthcare centers to ensure seamless high-speed internet connectivity. This initiative is anticipated to significantly expand broadband access in areas with limited or no coverage, bridging the digital divide in India.

As part of the collaboration, Airtel and SpaceX will also explore leveraging Airtel’s ground network infrastructure to enhance Starlink’s services. This will also help Airtel extend its comprehensive connectivity solutions, particularly in rural and remote locations across India.

“Working with SpaceX to offer Starlink to Airtel customers in India is a significant milestone,” said Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Bharti Airtel Ltd. He further stated that this collaboration will enable the company to provide world-class broadband connectivity in remote areas, enhancing Airtel’s ability to offer reliable and affordable internet services.
