Jaguar sales up by 6 per cent in May
Jaguar Land Rover (UK), a subsidiary of Tata Motor, reported a 6.1 per cent YoY increase in retail sales of its vehicles in May 2018.
Demand for the newly launched models including Land Rover Discovery, Jaguar E-PACE and Range Rover Velar supported the uptick in the sales figures.
In geographical terms, the company's retail sales for the month of May were up 24 per cent in Overseas markets, 20.9 per cent in UK and 16.7 per cent in North America. While it was down 8.7 and 8.1 per cent in Europe and China, respectively. In China, the sales benefited from reduction in import duty and the resultant advance purchase with effective date of July 1, 2018.
Total retail sales were at 48,281, which is up 6.1 per cent on a YoY basis, with 14,507 vehicles of Jaguar and 33,774 units of Land Rover. Revenues generated from Jaguar Land Rover sales from a major part of Tata Motors' revenue base.
On Thursday, the stock of Tata Motors gained 3.32 per cent to close at Rs. 305.30 per share on BSE.
