IRB Infra resumes toll collection

From today onwards, the nationwide lockdown in India, which was implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, has been eased a little. This has allowed travel to be resumed, following which, IRB Infrastructure Developers announced the resumption of user fee collection at all toll plazas.

With the implementation of nationwide lockdown, toll collection at national highways & expressways had been suspended. As of now, various regions that come under ‘green zone’ are allowed to continue with their normal daily activities whereas, the regions marked under ‘orange zone’ will still have a few restrictions imposed. Post this partial easing of lockdown, various travels by commercial and private vehicles have been allowed. Movement of goods has also resumed with the reopening of city borders other than that of ‘red zones’. As a result, NHAI/MSRDC has instructed the company to resume collecting of toll charges with effect from April 20, 2020.

IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd is a road build–operate–transfer (BOT) operator. Its principal activity is the construction and maintenance of roads with business segments including road infrastructure projects i.e. development and operation of roadways; real estate, which includes real estate development and others that includes windmill (sale of electricity generated by windmill), hospitality and airport infrastructure.

On Monday, the stock of the company closed at Rs 81.70, up by 5.08 per cent or Rs 3.95 per share. The 52-week high is Rs 139.20 and 52-week low is Rs 46 on BSE.
