Hindustan Unilever completes acquisition of Vwash
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) had announced the acquisition of Vwash, an intimate hygiene product from Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited on March 23, 2020. It announced the completion of the acquisition on Friday, subjected to certain closing conditions that have been satisfied now. The acquisition seems well-timed, given a heightened focus on hygiene.
HUL has acquired intellectual property rights, which are inclusive of trademark, design and know-how related to the brand globally. This strategic acquisition will enable HUL to unlock significant synergies and expand the brand by creating awareness, leveraging on distribution network and enhance offering for chemist channel.
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals launched Vwash in 2013 and was established as the market leader in female intimate hygiene due to its strong product proposition, brand building investments and endorsements.
HUL is India’s largest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company with a market share of more than 60 per cent. HUL is trading at Rs 2,144.1 with a decline of 1.38 per cent at 11:36 am on BSE. The share has a 52-week high of Rs 2,614 and a 52-week low of Rs 1,660.
