GSFC commissions India's first film grade Nylon-6 plant
Mid-cap fertilizer and industrial product company, GSFC has commissioned a film grade Nylon-6 plant in Vadodara, Gujarat. The unit has a capacity of 15 MT per day of film grade Nylon-6.
Presently, the film grade Nylon-6 is imported from Germany as there are no local manufacturers. Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals (GSFC) has built the plant with the technical know-how from Lurgi GmbH, Germany. This plant will help Indian plastic manufacturers source film grade Nylon-6 easily which is used in the making a variety of products including Lubricated Chips and Nucleated chips.
This plant is also in-line with the company's diversification plan. GSFC's expansion of its nylon product segment will in a way derisk its industrial product segment's exposure to fluctuations in caprolactam-benzene prices.
Also, the company has successfully started operations of its Caprolactam Quality Improvement Project which enhances the quality of Caprolactam extract made at the company's Caprolactam-I Plant. This improvement enables GSFC to produce international grade Caprolactam. With this project the company expects its bottomline to improve by around Rs. 15 crore, annually.
The stock of GSFC closed at Rs. 128.40 per share, up by 0.27 per cent on Thursday. Meanwhile the benchmark index BSE Sensex closed at 34,046.94, down 137.10 or 0.40 per cent.
