Globus Spirits top FMCG gainer; Sugar and Brewery stocks help FMCG index stay in green

When market volatility increases it is often seen that FMCG stocks outperform.

Sensex after falling in the early hours of the trading session is attempting to recover. FMCG index is trading in green with the help of Brewery stocks such as Globus Spirits and Associated Alcohol and Breweries Ltd. Globus spirits is the top FMCG index gainer, up by 20 per cent,locked in upper circuit. Associated Alcohol Breweries is up nearly 9%. S h Kelkar is up by more than 6% while Advanced Enzymes soared by more than 5%.

Bajaj Hindustan gained nearly 5% and is also locked in upper circuit while Renuka Sugars is up by nearly 5% and locked in upper circuit. ADF foods, Nath Bio Genes, Dawat and Marico are all trading with gains of more than one per cent each.

Marico along with Tata consumer products, UBL and Nestle are contributing the most to the index gains. UBL is up by more than 2 per cent while Nestle gained nearly 1 per cent.
