GHIAL signs agreement to operate Bidar Airport
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure, announced after the trading hours on Monday that it had signed a concession agreement to commission, operationalise and maintain the civilian enclave at Bidar Airport in North Karnataka.
GHIAL intends to commence operations at the airport, which is under Government of India’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) from February 2020. Operations of one-daily flight connecting Bidar to Bangalore is expected to commence during this time.
Speaking on the occasion, SGK Kishore, the Executive Director - South, GMR Airports and CEO of GHIAL stated that the company was pleased to partner with Government of Karnataka in order to support the efforts for an all-round development of Bidar and nearby regions. He further added that the commencement of commercial operations at the airport and better connectivity in Bidar would provide a boost to the local economy and also to high influx of tourists.
GMR Infrastructure is engaged in generating power, mining and exploration activities. In addition, the company is also in the business of infrastructure development, such as the development and maintenance of airports and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
At 10:45 am on Tuesday, the stock is trading at Rs 21.65, up by 0.70 per cent or Rs 0.15 per share. The 52-week high is recorded at Rs 25 and the 52-week low is Rs 13.45 on BSE.
