Flipkart collaborates with EDEL; aims to enhance EV deployment in its delivery process
Flipkart, the Indian e-commerce company informed via its press release that it has collaborated with EDEL (derived from electric delivery), an exclusive electric last-mile delivery service launched by Mahindra Logistics to speed up deployment of electric vehicles across its logistics fleet in the country.
This collaboration is aligned with Flipkart’s commitment to 100 per cent electric mobility in its logistics fleet and will deploy more than 25,000 electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030. Mahindra Logistics will play an important role in this process by working with various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and help Flipkart’s sustainable transition to EVs.
Mahindra Logistics, in keeping with the commitment & vision towards sustainable business practices has already launched its own electric delivery brand, EDEL, in late 2020. EDEL has collaborated with companies in consumer & e-commerce to provide sustainable last-mile delivery across six cities in India i.e. Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.
The collaboration will help Flipkart in building a green supply chain by deploying a large fleet of EVs and creating a favourable environment for EV deployment & operations across the country. This includes building and supporting infrastructure & technology such as charging stations and parking lots, training workforce, route planning, and even battery swapping stations in the near future. Also, special emphasis would be given on technology and control tower operations to enhance efficiency & cost competitiveness.
At 12.40 pm, the share price of Mahindra Logistics Ltd stood at Rs 561.00 on BSE, which was an increase of 2.64 per cent over its previous day’s close of Rs 546.55.
