Flat opening for markets; Nifty Media surges, Nifty Metal lags!

Sensex is up by 0.17 per cent, hovering around 81,180, and Nifty is up by 0.12 per cent, trading near 24,830.

Market Update at 9:30 AM: On Tuesday, Indian markets opened on a flat note, with both Nifty and Sensex showing positive movement. Nifty Media led the gains, while Nifty Metal was the biggest laggard.

As of now, the Sensex is up by 0.17 per cent, hovering around 81,180, and Nifty is up by 0.12 per cent, trading near 24,830. However, in the broader market performed, the Nifty Midcap is down by 0.13 per cent to approximately 57,250, and the Nifty Smallcap is flat, trading near 18,250.

India VIX rose by 0.46 per cent and is trading at 15.15, indicating a slight rise in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Media, Nifty Fin Service, and Nifty Bank are among the Top Gainers while Nifty Metal and Nifty IT are the sectors which are underperforming.

HINDUNILVR, M&M, and ULTRACEMCO are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while TATASTEEL, TATAMOTORS, and JSWSTEEL are among the Top Losers.

About 1,315 stocks are advancing as against to 1,050 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Pre-Market Update at 8:05 AM: Wall Street's major indexes fell by about 1 per cent on Monday, with rising Treasury yields and concerns over the Middle East conflict affecting oil prices. The Dow dropped 398.51 points (0.94 per cent), the S&P 500 lost 55.13 points (0.96 per cent), and the Nasdaq fell 213.94 points (1.18 per cent).

The GIFT Nifty is trading lower, signaling a negative opening for the day. Nifty futures are currently trading at 25,126.85.

In early Tuesday trade, the US 10-year Treasury yield decreased by 44 bps to 4 per cent, while the US 2-year bond yield dropped 115 bps to 3.94 per cent.

Oil prices dipped in early Asian trading Tuesday as traders took profits after Monday's rally, driven by concerns over escalating tensions in the Middle East. Brent oil futures (Dec’24) declined 1.05 dollars (1.30 per cent) to $79.88 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate declined 1.05 dollars (1.36 per cent) to $76.09 a barrel.

On October 07, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 8,293 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 13,245 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on October 08, 2024, are BANDHANBNK, BSOFT, GNFC, GRANULES, HINDCOPPER, IDFCFIRSTB, MANAPPURAM, PNB, RBLBANK.
