Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Thursday's trading session kicked off on a flat note amid mixed global cues. At 12.22 pm, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were trading in the negative territory i.e. at 58,645.59 and 17,487.85 levels, plummeting 0.07 per cent & 0.06 per cent, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra, Asian Paints, and Bajaj Finance emerged as the top gainers of today's session, which advanced 1.96 per cent, 1.13 per cent & 0.96 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Reliance, Wipro, and Infosys turned out to be the top losers, which slipped 1.24 per cent, 0.87 per cent & 0.83 per cent, respectively.
