Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened Tuesday's trading session in the green zone. However, at 11.06 am, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were seen trading lower at 56,455.40 and 16,854.40 levels, plunging 0.05 per cent & 0.10 per cent, respectively.
The top gainers of the day include Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, and UltraTech Cement, which surged 3.58 per cent, 2.43 per cent & 1.44 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Tata Steel, Infosys, and Kotak Mahindra Bank turned out to be the top losers, which tanked 2.71 per cent, 1.89 per cent & 1.55 per cent, respectively.
