Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened Monday's trading session in the green zone. At 12.56 pm, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were seen in the positive territory at 56,172.26 and 16,775.45 levels, climbing 1.12 per cent & 0.87 per cent, respectively.
The top gainers of the day include State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, and Infosys which surged 3.05 per cent, 2.85 per cent & 2.67 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Steel, and Bajaj Finance turned out to be the top losers, which tanked 1.43 per cent, 1.41 per cent & 0.95 per cent, respectively.
