Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex as well as Nifty opened Thursday's trading session in the green zone. At 11.35 am, Sensex was seen trading at 55,915.65 level, inching higher by 2.32 per cent while Nifty increased 2.22 per cent to be at 16,708.25 level.
The top gainers of the day include Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, and Hindustan Unilever, which jumped 5.58 per cent, 5.49 per cent & 5.39 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and Power Grid Corporation turned out to be the top losers, which tanked 0.95 per cent, 0.19 per cent & 0.02 per cent, respectively.
