Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex as well as Nifty opened Wednesday's trading session in the green zone. At 11.49 am, Sensex was seen trading at 53,956.32 level, inching higher by 1.00 per cent while Nifty increased 0.86 per cent to be at 16,150.55 level.
The top gainers of the day included Reliance, Tech Mahindra, and Dr Reddy's Laboratories, which increased 3.27 per cent, 2.70 per cent & 2.13 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Power Grid, NTPC, and Tata Steel turned out to be the top losers, which tanked 2.41 per cent, 1.95 per cent & 1.37 per cent, respectively.
