Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex as well as Nifty opened Monday's trading session in the red zone. At 11.15 am, Sensex was seen trading at 52,877.58 level, inching lower by 2.68 per cent while Nifty slipped 2.43 per cent to be at 15,851.10 level.
The top gainers of the day included Bharti Airtel, HCL Technologies, and Infosys, which increased 0.97 per cent, 0.76 per cent & 0.22 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, and Bajaj Finserv turned out to be the top losers, which tanked 5.57 per cent, 5.23 per cent & 5.22 per cent, respectively.
