Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened the first trading session of the week on a negative note. Even at 11.29 am, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were seen trading in the red zone at 55,716.81 and 16,625.00 levels, slipping by 0.25 per cent & 0.20 per cent, respectively.
The top gainers of today's session include Tata Steel, Power Grid, and NTPC, which soared 4.33 per cent, 2.79 per cent & 2.15 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Axis Bank, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, and HDFC Bank turned out to be the top losers of the day, which tumbled 2.21 per cent, 2.16 per cent & 1.77 per cent, respectively.
