Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened Thursday's trading session on a positive note. At 11.57 am, Sensex was spotted at 58,057.46 level, inching higher by 0.10 per cent while Nifty advanced 0.43 per cent to be at 17,396.55 level.
The top three gainers of the day are HDFC, Reliance, and Tata Steel, which soared 1.55 per cent, 1.27 per cent & 1.17 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and UltraTech Cement turned out to be the top three losers, which plunged 1.35 per cent, 1.29 per cent & 1.00 per cent, respectively.
