Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened Tuesday's trading session on a strong note. At 10.59 am, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were seen inching higher by 0.46 per cent & 0.54 per cent to be at 56,666.24 and 16,933.25 levels, respectively.
Nestle, Hindustan Unilever, and Wipro emerged as the top three gainers of the day, which surged 1.96 per cent, 1.70 per cent & 1.58 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Tata Steel, Power Grid, and IndusInd Bank turned out to be the top three losers, which plummeted 2.19 per cent, 1.29 per cent & 1.09 per cent, respectively.
