Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened Thursday's trading session on a strong note. At 12.06 pm, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were spotted in the green zone i.e. at 58,966.46 and 17,554.10 levels, up by 0.86 per cent & 0.52 per cent, respectively.
Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC, and HDFC Bank emerged as the top three gainers of the day, which soared 2.81 per cent, 2.44 per cent & 1.96 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Maruti, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, and Asian Paints turned out to be the top three losers, which tumbled 0.62 per cent, 0.47 per cent & 0.45 per cent, respectively.
