Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened Wednesday's trading session on a strong note. At 11.39 am, Sensex was trading at 58,228.12 levels, up by 0.73 per cent while Nifty inched higher by 0.60 per cent to be at 17,370.10 levels.
Maruti, IndusInd Bank, and HCL Technologies emerged as the top three gainers of the day, which soared 3.76 per cent, 2.82 per cent & 2.08 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Sun Pharma, HDFC, and ITC turned out to be the top three losers, which tumbled 0.46 per cent, 0.41 per cent & 0.28 per cent, respectively.
