Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened Friday's trading session on a weak note. At 11.57 am, Sensex was trading at 59,027.96 levels, down by 0.73 per cent while Nifty plummeted 0.81 per cent to be at 17,612.90 levels.
Maruti, Hindustan Unilever, and HDFC emerged as the top three gainers today, inching higher by 2.51 per cent, 0.88 per cent & 0.65 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra, and Tata Steel turned out to be the top three losers today, which tanked 4.04 per cent, 3.07 per cent & 2.92 per cent, respectively.
