Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened Thursday's trading session on a negative note. At 11.53 am, Sensex was seen trading at 59,525.02 levels, down by 0.95 per cent while Nifty inched lower by 0.84 per cent to be at 17,787.25 levels.
Power Grid, Bharti Airtel and UltraTech Cement turned out to be the top three gainers of the day, which soared 3.74 per cent, 1.30 per cent & 0.85 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, the top three losers include Bajaj Finserv, Infosys & HDFC, which tumbled 2.31 per cent, 2.24 per cent & 2.05 per cent, respectively.
