Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened Wednesday's trading session in the red zone and even at 11.32 am, both were spotted in the negative territory. While Sensex plunged 0.83 per cent at 60,250.11, Nifty slipped 0.76 per cent to be at 17,976.10 levels.
The top three gainers of today's session include Tata Steel, which advanced 0.84 per cent, followed by Maruti and Dr Reddy's Laboratoies, which rose 0.16 per cent each. On the other hand, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, and Infosys turned out to be the top three losers, which tanked 2.82 per cent, 2.63 per cent & 1.92 per cent, respectively.
