Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened Tuesday's trading session on a positive note but at 11.52 am, both the domestic benchmark indices were seen trading in the negative territory. While Sensex slipped 0.26 per cent at 61,152.26 levels, Nifty tumbled 0.30 per cent to be at 18,252.35 levels.
Axis Bank, Titan, and HDFC Bank emerged as the top three gainers of the day, which advanced 1.99 per cent, 1.25 per cent & 1.04 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Maruti, UltraTech Cement, and Tech Mahindra turned out to be the top three losers, which tanked 2.48 per cent, 2.29 per cent & 2.25 per cent, respectively.
