Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On the last trading session of the week, Sensex and Nifty opened in the green zone but soon after that, both drifted towards the negative territory. At 11.48 am, Sensex was seen trading at 56,950.92 levels, down by 0.64 per cent while Nifty inched lower by 0.77 per cent to be at 16,941.95 levels.
HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, and ITC emerged as the top three gainers today, which surged 2.27 per cent, 1.03 per cent & 0.76 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank and NTPC turned out to be the top two losers, plunging 2.45 per cent each along with Bajaj Finserv, which tanked 1.93 per cent.
