Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices kicked off Tuesday's trading session on a positive note. At 11.28 am, Sensex was seen trading at 56,660.12 levels, up by 1.50 per cent while Nifty inched higher by 1.52 per cent at 16,866.35 levels.
Tata Steel, HCL Technologies, and Tech Mahindra emerged as the top three gainers today, which surged 4.34 per cent, 4.03 per cent & 3.04 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, Power Grid turned out to be the top loser, which tanked 1.57 per cent.
