Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On Friday, the domestic benchmark indices opened in the negative territory, and even at 11.55 am, both were seen spotted in the red zone. While Sensex was down by 0.28 per cent at 58,640.15 levels, Nifty inched lower by 0.26 per cent to be at 17,471.55 levels.
The top three gainers of today's session included Asian Paints, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, which climbed 3.10 per cent, 1.42 per cent & 1.15 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Titan, HDFC, and Bajaj Finserv turned out to be the top three losers today, which plummeted 2.93 per cent, 1.07 per cent & 1.01 per cent, respectively.
