Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On Tuesday, the domestic benchmark indices opened the session in the green, and even at 11.27 am, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were seen trading in the positive territory. While Sensex inched higher by 1.55 per cent at 57,627.85 levels, Nifty climbed 1.54 per cent to be at 17,172.90 levels.
The top three gainers of today's session include Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank, which soared 3.67 per cent, 3.16 per cent & 3.02 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Asian Paints, and Bharti Airtel turned out to be the top losers of the day, which slipped by 0.54 per cent, 0.22 per cent & 0.03 per cent, respectively.
